1)
To assist the poor in West Bengal, India.
Our first priority is with orphans and children that have
been abandoned. We will provide shelter, education, medical
care, and a loving and safe environment in which children
can flourish and discover their full potential and purpose
for their lives.
2) To communicate the Christian message of Gods love and
forgiveness.
Volunteers will receive training and preparation in the U.K.
to work as part of a short term mission team. Teams based
at a Stepping Stones Community Centre are linked up with partner
Churches in West Bengal and take part in rural outreach programmes
and teaching seminars.
3) To assist the sick and those at risk of sickness.
Stepping Stones Community Centres will provide free pre and
post natal clinics for mothers and their children up to age
5. Staffed by a full time qualified nurse and overseen by
the local G.P., volunteers from the U.K. can assist on short
or long term placements. In addition, children residing at
the centres will receive in house medical care.
4) To provide practical helps.
Skilled workers and labourers receive training and preparation
in the U.K. to work with short term mission teams. Teams are
then linked up with established partner Churches in West Bengal
and take part in building and maintenance work for the benefit
of the poor in those communities.
The Vision
Firstly, it is to build relationships with the wider Christian
Church and local authorities in West Bengal, India. We see
that through partnership with like minded bodies we will establish
Stepping Stones Community Centres throughout the region,
providing safe havens for orphaned and abandoned children
and delivering practical care and support to poor rural communities.
Secondly, it is to support and resource West Bengals
rural Christian Churches in their mission to communicate the
Christian message of Love, Forgiveness, Healing and Hope.
Motivation
Our motivation is always a love for God through Jesus Christ
and a passion for helping people to discover their full potential
and Gods plan and purpose for their lives.
